Breakthrough into the airport fire brigade market in France

The “Le Bourget Airport”, part of “Aéroports de Paris”, has purchased their first Cobra system - a 360P system installed in a Renault Trafic light vehicle. It signifies the breakthrough into the airport fire brigade market in France. The system includes both Cobra high- and low-pressure accessories: HP additive pump, LP Handifighter and Portable Foam Unit. The system has been upgraded to the latest TDC abrasive vessel.

Mr Eric Valls, head of the fire- and rescue services at Le Bourget , is a strong believer of the advantages of the Cobra system for airport and airplane fires.  The system will be used during emergency fire fighting as well as reconnaissance vehicle when patrolling the airport – having the advantage of a 2-man crew which can immediately make an attack on a fire encountered during their surveillance.

The Cobra partner in France – Fire Technologies – has high expectations on further sale of Cobra into other French airports, both in the Paris regions, including Orly and Charles de Gaulle airports, as well in other parts of France. The Lyon airport “Saint Exupery” has previously shown interest.

Bengt Söderström and Claude Delalande of Fire Technologies hopes to integrate the Cobra system as part of standard training at the National Airport Fire Training Centre in Chateauroux in central France – and make it a “Cobra Airport Academy”. Bengt hopes for international cooperation with both airport and city fire brigades like Frankfurt Hahn, SÄRF in Borås and Northamptonshire to establish fire scenarios specific to the Cobra “advantage”.
