Entering the fire compartment allows the firefighters to extinguish the remaining fire. Having followed the previous steps in the SAVE method the firefighters can do so in a way that minimises the risk and exposure to high temperatures as well as the toxic smoke from fire gases and other risks, thus reducing the possibility of short- and long-term health effects.
